Christmas Gifting

Interestingly enough, our bairns rarely wanted toys. They wanted bikes to be sure but when they were young they hankered for new tools to help Dad or one year a sewing machine for the girl. Plastic planned obsolescence held no appeal for them.

Now that the research is completed, the conclusions regarding video games are bleak. Children's scores in reasoning skills, language skills, social skills, and math skills drop with video game usage. Not even the alleged "educational" vids are able to stop this decline in children's intellectual functions with increased exposure.

Everyone, young and old, has 5 domains in which they must grow and mature to become fully integrated and healthy adults: philosophical; emotional; intellectual; physical; and social maturity. The research has shown that these 5 areas are not addressed by video games.

Childhood flies and before we realize it, bairns are full grown and have wee'uns of their own. Let us use that precious time giving our children activities by our sides in which they can mature in the 5 domains of an integrated and healthy adult. Leave the expensive and mind-numbing video games on the store shelves for the betterment of your children. Instead teach them about the love of our Lord Jesus.

A most blessed and grace-filled Thanksgiving and Christmas to all.
