Chaplain (Major) Henry T. Vakoc, Retired

Chaplain Vakoc once said, "The safest place for me to be is in the center of God's Will, and if that is in the line of fire, that's where I'll be."

Today I should like to remind everyone to pray for the continued recovery of this brave Chaplain who was injured while ministering to our military personnel. "Heroic virtue" takes on new meaning when on the battlefield. While we pray for Chaplain Tim's recovery, let us ask ourselves today:
Am I in the center of God's Will?
Am I willing to brave the line of fire of persecution to remain in the
center of God's Will?

That's me away, then.

Aye, he was gravely injured in 2004. Our military chaplains go into battle with no weapons and often reach the wounded before the medics. One Chaplain from the Vietnam war, Fr. Vincent Capodanno, was awarded the Medal of Honor and has since been declared Servant of God when he lost his life protecting an injured medic.

I was just checking in on Father Tim. He ministered to my unit while I served in Iraq from Feb 04 - Jan 05. He was so inspirational and I will never forget his weekly "lessons." He made being Catholic in a war zone "fun!" I pray for him often and can never thank him enough for helping me get through the hardest year of my life. God bless you Father Tim!

Thank you for reminding us all of the dear sacrifice and holiness of this brave chaplain.
