The Highway to Holiness

If you want to travel the fast lane of spiritual maturity, forgiveness of injuries and insults tis the means. We have Christ's example from the Cross from Luke 23
33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him and the criminals there, one on his right, the other on his left.
34 Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do." They divided his garments by casting lots.
and again we have the followup from two great Doctors of the Church:

*There are many kinds of alms the giving of which helps us to obtain pardon for our sins; but none is greater than that by which we forgive from our heart a sin that someone has committed against us.
*St. Augustine of Hippo (354-430AD) on Forgiveness
Mini-Bio: North African; bishop, theologian, Doctor of the Church

**The saints rejoiced at injuries and persecutions, because in forgiving them they had something to present to God when they prayed to Him.

**St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582AD) on Forgiveness
Mini-Bio: Spanish; Founder of the Discalced Carmelites, Doctor of the Church. She left us excellent writings and teachings on prayer and had a great devotion to St. Joseph.

Humility is the earth that feeds our need to forgive. Let us be humble and recognize that pride causes us to become bitter over the real or imagined injury.
That's me away, then.
