Ergo...the Ego

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to forget our truest Freedom, the Freedom promised by Christ? Our freedom is found in detachment from materialism; detachment from the self-centered agendas; detachment from the flattery that strokes one's ego. Without that detachment we become very, very small; imprisoned in the tiny world we have created with our own paradigms and perceptions.

Christ wants us to be freed from the prison of pride and the ego; the sin that comes from that very pride of ego. The path to holiness does not echo "I have the answer". It reminds us that only God has the answer. As we spend time with God in prayer and study of His Divine Will in Scripture, we begin to understand that the walls which are made up of our egos are inadequate to the truly grand design of God's Holy Will. That sense of True Freedom dawns in our tiny, dark rooms that our egos have created and we step into the Light of God's Presence; we become a part of something that is much bigger, much grander than anything we can devise, anything we can hope for from our own tiny plans.

Pope John Paul II reminded us: "Be not afraid." So let us set aside our fears and step into the Light of Christ. Tis much more beautiful than a wee dark room.

That's me away; do not forget to pray to God this day.

Very wonderful post! I do not miss one bit chasing after the dollar, the bigger home the newer car. I am much happier now with less.

Matthew 5:16 So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
