Of Anxiety and the Plain Response

There seems to be a heightened level of anxiety since the election. Those who treat elections as a competition between teams view the political parties as part and parcel of their identity. The more they identify with the political party, the more upset they become when their party loses.

The economy still struggles in spite of a smooth electoral process. News from other quarters of the world is increasingly overwrought, even shrill.

The holidays are upon us. Let us take pause from the telly, the radio, even the internet news. Those who are addicted to continual updates of news all day long seem to be the most overwrought of many.

Pray. Trust in God. Remember what Jesus, Our Savior tells us in John 14:27

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid."

"Be not afraid", Pope John Paul II announced referencing that Scripture. He knew the peace that Christ brings and knew well the reassurance of Romans 8:28

"We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose."

That's me away.

I'm a Republican on paper but, honestly, only because you have to be something to vote. My "party" has lost but that is not why I'm concerned. I'm sad because as a nation we have chosen death over life and America is morally blind. But, as I was listening to Father Corapi this morning he says no fear...God is in control....and I trust in my Savior alone...no political party.

Oh aye, we find ourselves in the position of the first disciples of Christ: surrounded by a degenerate and morally corrupt culture that seeks to place self-interest and pleasure above all others. Tis sad but once again we can meet that challenge with our "mustard seeds" of faith. Tis an exciting opportunity!

No matter who won the election, my Lord is still in charge.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and don't lean on your own understanding. In all things acknowledge him, and he shall direct your way." Proverbs 3:5, 6

Many Blessings and have a blessed Thanksgiving!
