Fr. Neuhaus, You Will be Missed

We lost a voice of sanity today: Fr. Richard John Neuhaus (1936–2009)
We are all the poorer for this loss; his writings were logical and always without the usual sarcasm nor negativism so prevalent in today's mass media. His commentaries during the vigil of JPIIs final hours as well as the Papal election were always the voice of sanity and faith in the media madness. He never let the bizarre assumptions rule, never snarked nor put down. He was able to bring clarity, calm and gentle humor to a barking broadcast of overwrought emotions. You will be missed, dear Friend. Rest well after a race well run. An essay he wrote in February 2000, Born to Die, helps us to understand his thoughts on the cancer that would claim him and his ability to face death with courage. May we be so blessed with courage upon our own going home to God.

That's me away.

Hubby and I were listening to Catholic radio in the car the other day and heard of his death. Neither of us know who he is of course, but it was sad to hear nonetheless.

God Bless You <><
