While we have been excited to be able to contact other Plain Catholics around the world, we also recognize that the computer is a hypnotic time trap. For our part, we limit our time online to no more than one hour per day (unless illness has us bed-ridden, Plain Catholics rarely sit that long to do anything).
How do you control your time on the computer so that it does not use up your day and control your life?

Jack and I have specific times for getting on the computer. But if something else needs doing, that time on the computer is let go. And then sometimes we just do not feel the need to be on. We limit ourselves to about 3 hours a day a piece on the computer at most. Sometimes all I want is to quickly look at e mails, check my ministry or post a blog update and that is enough for me.
I want to keep a diary of the time I spend on line... I think I'll be rebuked a bit by the # of minutes... There ARE other things to do, people to reach out to (in the "real world")...

I guess I don't really stress it too much. Some weeks I have days where I spend a lot of time on the Internet, other weeks I hardly touch the computer. I don't really let it bother me all that much.
