One of the blessings of a wee farm is the ready resource of trees. We have some that fall from old age or storms and thus provide us with our fuel for the coming winter. Some of the timber is a beautifully grained wood that serves to make bowls, furniture, and other oddments. Some wood is straight and strong for walking sticks, other bits are bent and curled.
We are like that wood: some of us who are strong and straight can be leaned upon for the tough roads. Those of us who are bent from the cares of life are beautiful too. In wood, the bends and the curls make beautiful graining for bowls. All that is needed is for the Master Carver to shave away the odd bits to expose the beauty within and to create a vessel to hold Christ. Deo Gratias!
