Please read these two blogs. They truly hit the heart of this solemn weekend. God bless and keep our military both serving and retired, alive and in their eternal reward. They truly know how to sacrifice for others. Amen.
A reflection from a "military brat":

and Msgr. Pope's reflection:
Living our faith in plain and humble service to Jesus, Our Lord and Savior ... ORA ET LABORA +++ Sentire cum Ecclesia (to think and to feel with the Church)
Rejoice in hope; endure in affliction; persevere in prayer. Romans 12:12
Prayer joined to sacrifice constitutes the most powerful force in human history.
St. John Paul II
I have a mustard seed; and I am not afraid to use it. (Habeo granum sinapis quod uti non timeo)
Pope Benedict XVI
But I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a direct war, a direct killing, direct murder by the mother herself."
St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

I hate that anyone has to die in war. War is ugly!
I agree, war is terrible.
Sometimes we have to fight to keep evil men like Hitler from overtaking the world.
For that reason it leaves me with mixed feelings because then the troops are dying to save us from a more terrible evil.
Christ died a terrible death to save us from our own evil too. That's why I respect our service men and women.
I got choked up too this Memorial Day. Thinking of all the lives lost these past 11 years, all the spouses who had to go on, all the children, some who never knew their daddy or mommy...ugh... it gets me teary eyed all over again. :( Praying for our military and their families should be a constant vigil coming from us Christians. <><
